From a collaborative initiative in 2004 to a leading public health organization across Tanzania.
The Beginning
Founded through collaboration between Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), Dar es Salaam City Council, and Harvard School of Public Health, initially funded by PEPFAR.
Early Expansion
Expanded HIV services to 4 health facilities, serving 18,050 clients with comprehensive care and treatment.
Official Registration
Formally registered as a Tanzanian NGO - Management and Development for Health (MDH), marking a milestone in organizational independence.
Regional Growth
Expanded operations to Kagera Region, broadened scope beyond HIV/AIDS. Now serving 63,029 ART clients across multiple facilities.
Innovative Interventions
Adopted Option B+ intervention for PMTCT. Awarded health system strengthening projects and expanded maternal and child health programs.
Test and Start
Implemented Test and Start initiative. Expanded to six regions with over 270 staff members, managing 9 ongoing and 10+ completed projects.
National Reach
Operating across all 25 regions of Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, supporting 573+ health facilities with a dedicated team of professionals.
